FAQ's

What species do we fish for and where do we fish?

Snook, Redfish, Sea Trout, Tarpon, Snapper, and Sheepshead are common targets on our inshore charters. If you have a preference on what you would like to catch and how you would like to target them, please mention that to Captain Andy in advance. We fish areas in and around Charlotte Harbor and Pine Island Sound.

What do we need to bring?

You are responsible for bringing any other drinks or snacks you may want on the charter. Please leave your cooler behind as one with ice will be provided on the trip. Polarized sunglasses are a must for sight fishing in the shallows. If you plan to apply sunscreen on the boat, please use non-spray sunscreen. It is best to apply before your trip.

What does Tides and Tails Expeditions provide?

Tides and Tails Expeditions provides fishing licenses, all tackle both fly fishing and spin fishing, safety gear, bottled water, and cooler with ice. Fly rods that we supply are ORVIS and our spinning rods are TFO. We believe these to be the best products for our charter applications. If you have a rod you would like to bring, please ask Captain Andy in advance.

What is your deposit policy?

Deposits are strictly NON-REFUNDABLE unless trips are cancelled due to weather at Captain Andy's discretion. If you have to cancel your charter, your deposit will not be refunded but can be applied towards your next charter at the availability of Tides and Tails Expeditions.

Our skiff is a 2026 Delta D18 powered by a 2026 Suzuki 60HP. It drafts 5-7" fully loaded. It is equipped with a Minn Kota Terrova and Simrad GPS/Sonar to get us on the fish and hold us in place. It accommodates two anglers plus Captain Andy. There is an oversized casting platform on the bow for enhanced sight fishing capability. All USCG saftey equipment will be onboard at all times.

What happens in case of bad weather?

Captain Andy will use his discretion to cancel any charters due to unsafe weather conditions such as high winds, strong rain, and thunder/lightning. Deposits will be refunded on trips cancelled by Captain Andy. We do fish in light to moderate rain.
